The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Dress for success

TUESDAY

It’s official! The X-Files will return for 6 episodes! Production will begin this (North Hemisphere) summer~ Obviously creator and executive producer Chris Carter and stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are on board. I mean, would you see The X-Files without them? Mulder and Scully had this lovely combo on Twitter about the news. This is what Carter had to say:

I think of it as a 13-year commercial break. The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.

D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, showrunners of Game Of Thrones, and actors Kit Harington and John Bradley, were at Oxford Union over the weekend answering some audience questions, and ended up admitting that the show will spoil the books~

We’ve been talking about this with George for a long time ever since we saw this could happen, and we know where things are heading. So we’ll eventually, basically, meet up at pretty much the same place where George is going; there might be a few deviations along the route, but we’re heading towards the same destination. I kind of wish there were some things that we didn’t have to spoil, in terms of… for the books, but we’re kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place. The show must go on [laughs]. Just came up with that. And that’s what we’re gonna do.

Rumor has it that Matt Smith wants to be Newt Scamander! You know, the main character in the Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them. Sure the info came from The Sun, but I am weirdly OK with it.

Here are some “fun facts” about Avengers: Age of Ultron! Including Tony Stark giving all the team new toys to play with: the stretchy pants of Hulk so Bruce Banner can save a small fortune of dress pants, new bow and arrow tips for Hawkeye, the Cap’s shield now can be called back just like Tony’s armours and has some cool magnets, and Black Widow has now fighting batons charged just like her stingers! Thor seems the only one without a new gadget according to the “fun facts”. Guess Mjölnir is enough?

Here’s TIE Fighter, a labor of love that depicts an epic Star Wars space fight from the point of view of the Empire. It was made over four years with a small team. Also made of awesome.

WEDNESDAY

Here’s our first look at Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice! And he looks just like Jesse Eisenberg with a shaved head. OK, I am counting on your acting skills for this one, Jesse. You still don’t look like Lex Luthor to me.

Here’s what Zack Snyder had to say:

He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course. Our Lex is disarming and he’s not fake. He says what he believes and he says what’s on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it’s all there.

Star Trek 3 wants Idris Elba on the movie. And now I do too.  He may take the role of the villain, probably a Klingon. A sexy Klingon. Not much is known right now.

George R.R. Martin doesn’t get the concept of “spoilers”. I mean, I don’t mind spoilers, but I get why someone would not want to be spoiled. And then dude makes a terrible comparison with historical fiction. Damn, dude you heartless! No empathy with people who want to experience the excitement for the first time.

Here’s the first look of Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim comic and it looks great! It’s titled Pacific Rim: Tales from the Drift and will start its four issue monthly run this November.

A continuation of the bestselling graphic novel Pacific Rim: Tales from Year Zero, the new Pacific Rim comic series will feature Jaegers never before seen in combat, squaring off against all-new Kaiju creatures.
