The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Choose your side!

TUESDAY

Curses! Our first look at Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa in Power Rangers looks entirely too green, and not very Rita Repulsa like. Here’s what Banks has to say:

It’s definitely a modern and edgy re-imagining of the original Rita Repulsa. We wanted to give her a backstory that connects her to the new Rangers.

Joss Whedon talked about his regrets for Avengers: Age of Ultron and also talked a bit about his upcoming projects (a mysterious new film and a musical… as soon as he stops getting distracted by Hamilton)~

The things about it that are wrong frustrate me enormously, and I had probably more of those than I had on the other movies I made. But I also got to make, for the second time, an absurdly personal movie that talked about how I felt about humanity, and what it means, in very esoteric and bizarre ways, for hundreds of billions of dollars.

Here we have a new and slightly homoerotic Captain America: Civil War concept art, so yay! Also, we saw the posters AMC will be giving away at IMAX showings of the film… and Black Widow gets to be in one front and center!

Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega got to host the Princes William and Harry on the set of Star Wars: Episode VIII. Those lucky royals also got to hug Chewbacca, interact with BB-8, and ride an A-wing!

WEDNESDAY

Captain America: Civil War aint the only civil war Marvel is getting ready for! Here we have the trailer for Civil War II, the newest Marvel comicbook event, and you will have to choose your side again! Civil War II #1 is to be released this June.

The scriptwriters of Captain America: Civil War compare the film to the comicbooks, specially the origin of the conflict:

Stephen McFeely: The movies have provided it for us. We looked at all the third acts and went, “Oh, maybe we should talk about that.” They keep raining shit down on top of all these cities, that probably will have some sort of effect on people’s opinion of them.

Christopher Markus: And then, the characters were headed organically toward conflict. More so than in the comics, which as fun as Civil War is, Tony seems a little like he had a personality transplants at a couple of points to keep the plot going. [Captain America: Civil War’s] Tony, it’s organically exactly where he would be.

Yes! Thank you! The reasons more people are #TeamCap was due to Tony Stark’s character assassination!

Director Jon Favreau is another one who has praised Captain America: Civil War‘s Spider-Man, claiming he made him smile “every second the character was on the screen”. Also, Favreau is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

I’m going to be executive producing the Avengers films with the Russo brothers, which I’m very excited about. I talk to them about it all the time. I’ve worked both in front of and behind the camera with Marvel and I really love what they’re doing right now. It’s a really exciting time to be over there. I’ve seen a rough cut of Civil War and it’s fantastic. We’re constantly looking for things to do together. And now I’m freed up.

The special features of the Deadpool Blu-Ray have been revealed! Yay for gag reels!
