The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Cancelling the Apocalypse again~

THURSDAY

‘Tis a day of good news! First… OMG! Guillermo del Toro promised us more Pacific Rim comicbooks, an animated show and a freaking seguel! Yes! Pacific Rim 2 will happen on April 7, 2017!

He also told BuzzFeed this:

The characters I love will return. Raleigh, Mako, Newt, Gottlieb and who knows, maybe even Hannibal Chau – but we are taking them into a fresh territory that will display amazing sights and battles. The first film set the stage and now we’re ready to have a blast.

Mark Ruffalo says that Avengers: Age of Ultron is coming to Comic Con! We are still not sure about that trailer, but we should get some footage right? Some Hulk related footage, Ruffalo hints~

There might be some cool new Hulk, Hulk-o, Hulk-o-phobia, Hulk-o-phernalia. Hulk-a-phernalia!

And I am sharing this TV spot of Guardians of the Galaxy because it has “Cherry Bomb” in it… I really really hope the awesome soundtrack of these trailers/TV spots is also the same of the movie! Please, Marvel, say it is so!

Frank Darabont is going to direct Snow White and the Huntsman 2! Which is actually a spin-off and not a sequel since it would be all about the Hunstman (Chris Hemsworth) and there probably won’t be any Kristen Stewart. And while it sucks that a female lead is put aside for the male one… Frank Darabont is going to direct it and there probably won’t be any Kristen Stewart! Yep, those are two pretty good incentives!

Robert Orci talked about what his Star Trek 3 is going to be about… and it will finally be about the damn final frontier! Five-year mission is a go! Hell to the yes! Of course, we knew that considering how Star Trek Into Darkness started but still!

In Box Office news, the X-Men franchise has reached $3 billion in global ticket sales! Way to go! Congrats Fox and all!

FRIDAY

Everybody is loving Dawn of the Planets of the Apes! First reactions are great all over Twitter, and now I want to watch it right now, dammit!

Here’s the very brief first footage of Doctor Who new series with Peter Capaldi, also announcing when exactly we are getting the Doctor back: Saturday 23rd August with the feature-length episode “Deep Breath”.

There’s also a new promo picture which is not as photoshopped as Matt Smith’s ones… Jenna Coleman as Clara looks happy tho! Guess she gets over not knowing who The Doctor is anymore pretty fast!

Also, Steve Moffat will totally be the showrunner for series 9… or so his comment about figuring out “the cliffhanger to the penultimate episode of the next series” in the Doctor Who Magazine implies! Yay?

Netflix will launch their first ever anime because why not! It’s called Knights of Sidonia and there’s drama and looks futuristic and stuff~ It will have 12 episodes and premieres on July 4th!

Based on the popular manga series of the same name, follows Nagate, a low-born youth in a society of genetically engineered refugees who escaped the destruction of Earth one thousand years earlier and now occupy the massive ship Sidonia. When Nagate’s talent as a pilot is revealed he becomes one of Sidonia’s elite defenders against the Guana, shapeshifting aliens bent on eliminating humans from existence.

And that it’s for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Chris Pratt (21), Juliette Lewis (21), Meryl Streep (22), Joss Whedon (23), Matthew Lewis (27) and J.J. Abrams (27).
