The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Cancelling the Apocalypse again~

TUESDAY

There’s a new trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the Turtles don’t look that bad in motion! They still are pretty ugly in posters tho! Yet Donnie is still my fav~

Also, you know they said that Nathan Fillion will have a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy? Well, rumor has it that he could voice Cosmo! You know, “the psychic Russian cosmonaut dog”. James Gunn did tweet something that could make some doubt the rumor, but it wouldn’t be the first time a director tries his hand at misdirection, right J.J. Abrams?

So Danny Cannon, who directed the Gotham pilot and worked with series creator Bruno Heller to get that realistic yet comic-booky aesthetic, totally wants Mr. Freeze in the show, and it’s trying to move some pieces to achieve it. Reach for your dreams, Danny!

I have a big pitch with Bruno about the Mr. Freeze character, whose origins are uncertain. If I can win Geoff Johns over and if I can win Bruno over, then I look forward to the moment where that character can be realized.

Edgar Ramirez is in talks to star in Doctor Strange which, damn, is actually a very good fit to play Doctor Strange. Better that Benny Batch, Tom Hardy or Jared Leto. Hell, even if they give him the job of Doctor Strange’s nemesis Baron Mordo, it would be good!

Yep, we are getting a Predator reboot! And Shane Black is going to direct! Yay Predators in Christmastime! Talking about Black, dude is also working on his Doc Savage movie. Yep, that popular pulp fiction character from 1930s and 40s~ And his Doc Savage of choice is Chris Hemsworth. He has already met with the actor to see if his wishes can come true. That project still has some budget issues so we will see~

WEDNESDAY

So, Empire is going to have a Gremlins reunion photoshoot because they like to play with my emotions like that! Oh, and also it’s been 30 years since that movie premiered! Yay, a movie I remember fondly for my childhood that is not animated is older than me! Anyway, here’s the first look:

Here be the character posters of Gotham, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. And everybody looks fab! My only complain? Who the hell is Ivy Pepper, since as far as I am aware Poison Ivy’s name is Pamela Isley! Did she change her name when she gets older so nobody will totally know she’s Poison Ivy with that name? Or is it, as a commenter on The Mary Sue, said:

Ivy Pepper? What, were ‘Daisy McFertilizer’ and ‘Rose O’FlowerVillain’ already taken?

I mean, for obvious names we already have Edward Nygma as The Riddler in canon!

Entertainment Weekly also gave us stills from Mad Max: Fury Road! Yep, George Miller is back with the story and here’s what he has to say:

I wanted to tell a linear story–a chase that starts as the movie begins and continues for 110 minutes. In this crucible of very intense action, the characters are revealed.

Nicholas Hoult and Charlize Theron look great in it!

George Lucas will open his Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Chicago because he can! Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel seems quite happy about it!

No other museum like this exists in the world, making it a tremendous educational, cultural and job creation asset for all Chicagoans, as well as an unparalleled draw for international tourists.

Oh yeah, Shane Black says that he’s doing Predator sequel, not a reboot because he likes “the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button.” Whatever you want, dude, I will watch it anyway~
