Music Mondays: New Releases, Miguel Flies… sort of, and More!

Thursday:

A very interesting article made it to my Tline today, compliments of Giocomo Lee. It’s about the underground of girl groups in South Korea. Now, I’ll be the first to admit I don’t really put much stock in girl groups when it comes to Korean music. What can I say, they’re completely uninteresting to me and oftentimes just don’t have anything in the way of substance (that’s not all girl groups, if you know anything about me… just most of them). But this article points out some groups that I undoubtedly have never heard of. And, man, I’m glad I stumbled upon this. Wake up call! Check out the article and a list of some very interesting and hardcore bands making waves in Korea’s underground here.

Sebastian Blake drops a video for fans. His acoustic rendering of song Last Week [MV] and Franz Ferdinand announces their new album Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action [1].

And then, oh then, to top off the release of their latest MV, a clip of Shinhwa’s photo shoot with GQ Magazine was dropped via Twitter. Can I say, you guys are sort of flawless in almost every way?

What did I say… flawless…

And then quite possibly one of the most unsurprising developments, Google has revealed their music streaming service. With the success of iTunes, Spotify, and most certainly YouTube, it was only a matter of time before Google got in on it. After all, if we’ve learned nothing else in the last few years, it’s that Google OWNS the world!

Google Play Music All Access offers users the ability to listen to millions of tracks in addition to the ones they already own. The firm described it as “radio without rules”.

And now another cover of Daft Punk’s latest work, this time compliments of Atlas Genius, an acoustic duo. Their rendition of Get Lucky most definitely has a bit of an elegant folk drip to it [1]. What do you think?

More news about one of the heroes of the 90s, Beck. He’s announced he will be performing songs from his new album Song Reader in London July 4 [1]. This concert unveiling the actual release of what was originally just sheet music (the teasing little troll) will include appearances by Franz Ferdinand, Jarvis Cocker, and Michael Kiwanuka, to name just a few.

Not gonna lie, the main reason why I’m posting this news is because of the name of the band. F*ck Buttons (oh yeah, you heard right… F*CK BUTTONS) announces their new album, Slow Focus. They also gave Under The Radar Magazine a peek at the tracklisting [1].

Probably the coolest video to happen today was Talib Kweli and Chance The Rapper doing a bit of drunk freestyle on Showoff Radio. Just… check the brilliance:

With the release of new music, Kanye West decided to give an impromptu free show for fans in New York [1]. More news on that in a bit.

As unexpected as my path was to loving all things weird, more unexpected is my ability to get attention for writing about the stuff.

LOL Miguel, I learnt about it through LJ… but man, the girl who got kicked it in the face had it worse than the once that almost got teabagged in my opinion~

@Mirella, Dude.. it was just… it was ugly on all sides! He basically face kicked TWO chicks, one went down, the other one was pulled to the side while the girl he hugged just took the opportunity… HaHa.

      And yes… IDRIS!
