Music Mondays: Lauryn Hill Returns, Chance Drops Acid, Q.U.E.E.N.s Take Over, and more!

Tuesday:

Today seemed to be the day for sexy house music. And why not? Nothing wrong with a little sexy to spice of the second day of the week. But first, one of the most shockingly talented artists to come out of the last five years dropped his second mixtape. Chance The Rapper’s Acid Rap is already one of the most talked about albums of 2013, most certainly the most talked about rap album. It’s fearless and powerful and just eighteen different types of fun.

Flying Lotus takes time to provide the musical score for a short film about African-American rodeo riders in the mid-southwest [1].

Tricky dropped another single from his upcoming album, False Idols. Tribal Drums features the sensual vocals of Francesca Belmonte, and it’s as smooth as silk. It wouldn’t be a proper Tuesday without the god of trip-hop making an appearance.

There were plenty of incredible joints dropped out of the House scene. Most of it this Tuesday seemed to err on the side of sensual. Songs like KC LNIP’s Do You Good [1] and Evil Needle’s teaser for upcoming album Qualia [1]. But the track that took the cake on Tuesday was the gorgeous Jo Def remix of Janet Jackson’s Would You Mind. Already a risque piece of dessert, U Mind takes the sensuality inherent in the song and gives us a long-lasting erogenous experience like no other [1].

As unexpected as my path was to loving all things weird, more unexpected is my ability to get attention for writing about the stuff.
