Music Mondays: Lauryn Hill Returns, Chance Drops Acid, Q.U.E.E.N.s Take Over, and more!

Hello there, friends and dreamers. This is a new segment I’m trying out, in the same sort of vein as the lovely Mirella’s “Fangirly Diary.” We’re going to tentatively call it Music Mondays. We’re going to start off the week going back through some of the music news and videos that made me happy (and sometimes a little sad). Right now I’m just trying to decide how I want to make this work. So for now, let’s just go day by day and see what happened to make the world dance, shall we?

Monday:

We start off the week with some truly epic news. Beck announces he’s going on a solo acoustic tour! Of course, anyone who follows the musical genius of this man will want to know the what, when, and where of the thing. Well, Under The Radar Magazine was kind enough to share all the titillating details and give fans a bit of a thrill in the process  [1].

Then we’ve got some brilliant hip-hop in the form of The Other Guys Music. They dropped their track When The Music Stops and introduced the world to some more of their brand of spectacular hip-hop. Substantial makes a cameo on the track, elevating the song to something even more magical.

The Roots and John Legend conducted an interview with OK Player [1]. They talked about everything from what it was like working together to their respective creative process. There’s nothing more incredible than hearing to artists go back and forth about the inner workings of their craft.

Alterna-chic vocalist Daughter covered Daft Punk’s latest single Get Lucky live for Huw Stephens on the BBC Radio One Live Lounge, putting her own smoky spin on the highly anticipated first single from Daft Punk’s latest album Random Access Memories.

As unexpected as my path was to loving all things weird, more unexpected is my ability to get attention for writing about the stuff.
