Amy’s Top50 Songs of 2017
40. Allen – Lay Down (放下)
I couldn’t resist.
39. Mohammed Irfan, Jonita Gandhi, Cuca Roseta – Yaadon Mein
Jab Harry Met Sejal has been hated this year, I’ve only seen a couple of people defending it. I’ve never actually liked the female characters that Imtiaz Ali has written in previous movies (except for, maybe, Alia’s in Highway), but Anushka’s wasn’t that bad here.
There hasn’t been many Bollywood (or Indian cinema) OSTs that had made a mark this year so far, but Yaadon Mein was one of the few.
38. Macy Gray – White Man
I don’t understand why Macy Gray isn’t more popular, though.
37. St. Vincent – Pills
Pills to wake, pills to sleep
Pills, pills, pills every day of the week
Pills to walk, pills to think
Pills, pills, pills for the family
Pills to grow, pills to shrink
Pills, pills, pills and a good stiff drink
Pills to fuck, pills to eat
Pills, pills, pills down the kitchen sink
I’m starting to see a theme in the songs that have marked my 2017 xD
36. Bolbbalgan4 – Blue [clip]
35. Tori Amos – Up the Creek [LV]
34. Sentimental Scenery – History [audio]
33. Joanne Tseng (曾之喬) – Guess (猜猜看) [MV]
32. Jung Key (정키) featuring Whee-in – Anymore (부담이 돼)
This song makes me so sad. Also, Whee-in’s voice has been sounding so great (so sad, but oh so great) this year. I’m so glad Jung Key wrote this song with Whee-in’s voice in mind, reaching a totally unexpected #1 in music charts, and even a win on music shows without promotions.
Sad Songs deserve the glory too!
Even the night I was in your arms,
Even the moment we were kissing,
All those moments are left as wounds in my heart.
Every moment is a burden to me.
31. ZhaoZe (沼泽) – If I Lose my Youth (如果我失去了青春)
My first discovery on this year’s Xiami compilation xD
