Amy’s Top50 Songs of 2014
15. Vijay Yesudas, Sachin Warrier & Divya S Menon – Maangalyam – First Comes the Marriage
On first watch, this song in the Bangalore Days soundtrack doesn’t amount to much. You’ve seen bigger and flashier dance numbers on other movies, however, when watched with subtitles (with the context of the movie and the lyrics of the songs), it turns Maangalayam into the most ironic wedding song EVER. WHY WOULD YOU EVEN PLAY IT AT A WEDDING when it’s got great verses such as “A cage for the green bird, a cage with vegetable window sills. The groom is coming for the marriage that is to lock you- First comes the marriage, then comes life. Once trapped inside this cage, the blue skies will not be seen again.”
Have a happy marriage y’all!
14. Miyavi – Let Go [Xiami]
To be honest, I think it’s pretty dumb to release a digital single [iTunes] and not have a full audio version available to listen on YouTube (those will pop up and create broken links everywhere), and Miyavi knows better than that because he’s been one of the first to focus on overseas activities. But despite this, he’s always great.
13. MERENGUE (メレンゲ) – With That Hero for Us (“あのヒーローと” 僕らについて) – Bokura ni Tsuite
The Ending Theme of Ping Pong. Enough said. [Xiami]
12. Shiina Ringo (椎名林檎) – Arikitari na Onna (ありきたりな女) – An Ordinary Woman [1]
11. Khalil Fong (方大同) – 黑白灰 (Hei Bai Hui) – Black White & Grey [1]
No use of Real Estate’s “Had To Hear”? :(
For Black Keys, I prefer “Weight of Love”.
I was actually quite disappointed with the Black Keys album :( and I don’t think Real Estate’s my kind of music at all. xD
